Tell us about the areas you are most comfortable working in

Working with children and adults who stutter is my passion.

I also work with general speech and language issues for clients of all ages.

What do you enjoy doing in your downtime?

I’m happy to say that family and friends keep me busy outside of my hectic work schedule.  I love my weekly tennis group and otherwise keeping fit with walking and pilates.  I also love to read and to watch a good movie.  I’m a keen photographer and traveller which is somewhat on hold right now…

Anything else you want us to know?

I always wanted to be a speech pathologist since I was about 13 years old! Luckily the training and the profession didn’t disappoint, because working as a speech pathologist is not much like a young girl might imagine! I first started work in 1987 and I have enjoyed varied roles in both the public and private sectors across many clinical areas. I gravitated towards working with people who stutter when I first started working privately after our first child was born in 2002. We were living in the Netherlands as expats and my only work option was to work in private practice more or less in isolation. Working with young children who stutter, allowed me to offer gold standard type intervention, using the Lidcombe Program, without the luxury of team work that is needed in other areas of practice. And so my journey with stuttering commenced. Now I am able to offer more comprehensive treatments across the lifespan and I still feel like I am learning and evolving as a clinician on a daily basis.
