Meet Di van der Walt the owner of Perth Hills Speech Pathology
Di obtained her Bachelor of Speech and Language Therapy in Auckland, New Zealand. Since then, she’s completed lots of additional training. She is qualified in Sounds-Write. She’s a Certified Hanen Speech Pathologist, having trained in It Takes Two to Talk, More than Words and ABC and Beyond.
Tell us about the areas you are most comfortable working in
I love working with Developmental Language Disorder and Literacy. In particular children who are in the middle of primary school, who have been struggling. I love being able to help them get the confidence they deserve. I also love Early Intervention, in particular taking parents through It Takes Two to Talk and seeing the improvement in their little ones based on the changes to the parents’ interactions.
What do you enjoy doing in your downtime?
What is downtime? Haha! Well, I don’t get a lot but I do love being outdoors with my family and I have recently started trail running, which I am loving. I am training up to take part in a team Ultra Trail Marathon next year – watch this space!
Anything else you want us to know?
I feel privileged to work as a Speech Pathologist and to assist so many children and their families. I see that helping one child leads to helping so many more and really value that ripple effect.
